Decade Rewind: The Best Movies of 2019

As the 2010’s have officially come to an end, I will be looking back at each cinematic year to give a personal decade retrospective of the best movies and performances of each year.  I will break down my Top 10 movies of each year, along with my favorite performances from that year.  I will also be listing my favorite’s from each genre, like Best Animated Movie and Best Action Movie, as well as best of the technical aspects, like Best Cinematography and Best Screenplay.  This will all culminate into my picks for the best movies and performances of the decade.

*Rankings of movies and performances are numbered from 1-5, with 1 being the best movie/performance.

*Gifs for each category are not specifically of the “winners” of each category, just one of the nominees.

THE YEAR: 2019

2010’s ended on a high note, as 2019 was a pretty great year for movies.  Where this year had a lack of truly great blockbusters, it was a great year for ambition from filmmakers both old and young.  Veteran filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, James Mangold, Rian Johnson, and Bong Joon-Ho gave us some career-best work, while up-and-comers like Lulu Wang, Ari Aster, The Safdie Brothers, Marielle Heller, and Jordan Peele proved they were forces to reckoned with and some of the most exciting voices going into a new decade.

2019 was also the best year for Kevflix to date.  It was a year where I finally got comfortable with my own voice and how I write my reviews.  I hit a career high in viewership, was approved for more film festivals, and got accepted into the Online Film & Television Association, another nation-wide critics group that I am honored to be a part of.  I now go into the new decade with new motivation to give you the best content that I can give you so that Kevflix can make as big of an impact on the film world that it possibly can.  I thank you all for your support!

Here are my picks for the best movies and performances of 2019.
